Today we’re sitting down with Pertemba’s Offshore Marketplace Team Manager, Monisha Kanavi, to discuss her role, working with the UK team and the offshore team’s continued expansion.
Q. Tell us about yourself & your role at Pertemba Global.
A. I graduated with a degree in Business Management and Global Business Leadership, specialising in finance. I began my career at the age of 20 with a major investment bank. After working in finance for two years, I had the opportunity to transition into e-commerce operations eight years ago, a burgeoning field at the time. I’m proud to have been a part of this thriving sector since then.
As the Offshore Marketplace Team Manager, I oversee the daily operations of a diverse team that leverages feed and cloud-based management applications for data mapping, product listings, image editing, and process optimisation across over 130 live marketplaces, managing an impressive catalogue of over 1.6 million products. The dynamic nature of our work keeps it engaging; there’s always something new happening, making each day an exciting challenge!
Q. Tell us about the expansion of the offshore team, the creation of the team and the dynamics within your office.
A. Since I joined the company in April 2022, the offshore team has experienced remarkable growth. Initially, I started with just two other members. As the business expanded, we recognised the need for a larger, more diverse team to handle the increasing workload. Over the past two years, my team has grown to 8-10 members, reflecting the overall growth of the offshore team, which now boasts over 65 professionals from various backgrounds.
Our office has a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere with a strong focus on teamwork. We prioritise open communication, encouraging everyone to share their ideas. Our daily stand-ups and brainstorming sessions help keep us aligned and engaged, enhancing productivity and creating a supportive space where everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute.
Q. Tell us about the synergy between the offshore team & the UK office, and about your trip to visit the UK team.
A. The synergy between our offshore team and the UK office has evolved significantly with time. We maintain open lines of communication through regular meetings and training sessions, ensuring that both teams are aligned on our goals and projects.
My trip to the UK head office was an invaluable experience. Meeting in person allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the technical work within the marketplace team, customer service, content, finance, and IT teams, as well as insights into each other’s workflows and challenges.
We also participated in social gatherings outside of work, which significantly contributed to strengthening our professional relationships. This visit not only deepened our collaboration but also highlighted the importance of our collective efforts in driving the business forward.
